Frances (Leach) Miles

January 21, 1922 ~ May 2, 2020 (age 98)


Frances Leach Miles of Catonsville Maryland, who was 98 years old, passed away on the evening of May 2nd at her daughter's home in Finksburg, MD. Frances was born Frances Netta Leach in Marshall, Virginia to Clay and Leonie Wiser Leach. She was predeceased by her husband William R. Miles, her son Michael Clay Miles, her twin sister Fannie, her sisters Suzie, Ginny, and her brother Thurston. As a young woman she moved to Washington, DC and attended George Washington University to study pharmacy. When World War II began, she gave up her schooling and became a supervisor for the C & P Telephone Company of Washington, DC.  During the war she was loaned to the Pentagon. Her patriotic duty did not stop there, as she also served as an Air Raid Warden in the DC. area. Frances was married in 1946 to the late William R. Miles, a career Naval man, who was the love of her life. After marrying in Washington, DC, they moved from state to state while her husband was in the Navy, finally moving to Catonsville where they raised their family. She lived for her Lord and her family. She was a lifelong member of Catonsville Baptist Church before moving to Finksburg.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching the news, Family Feud, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and especially spending time with her family. Her face would light up every time her great grandchildren walked into the room and gave her a hug. Surviving are her two children William (Sam) Miles of Catonsville, Maryland, Gail Ford and her husband Dennis of Finksburg, Maryland. Her grandchild Elizabeth Noratel, her husband Russell, and their two children Lily and Maggie.

There will be no visitation, however the graveside services at Loudon Park Cemetery will be broaodcast live on the Loudon Park Funeral Home FACEBOOK page on Wednesday, May 13th beginning at 11 AM. The funeral video will also be posted on the page permanently. *See link below under DONATIONS*

In lieu of flowers a donation in her name may be sent to the Friendship Baptist Church, 1391 Sykesville Road Sykesville, MD (21784.)
