Brenard (Brenny) John Taylor, of Jessup, Maryland passed away after a long illness on January 10, 2019 at the Veterans Affairs Loch Raven Community Living and Rehabilitation Center Hospice in Baltimore, MD. He was 73.
He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Darryl Lynn Taylor.
Born August 19, 1945 in Weston, West Virginia, Brenny was the son of Clarence Taylor and Goldie Mae Johns.
He served in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate III, from 1963-1966 during the Vietnam War, on the USS Sierra, USS Norton Sound and USS Boston. In 1963, Brenny graduated from the US Navy Fire Fighters Academy in boot camp. While in the Navy, the ships he served on were tasked with searching the sea floor for unexploded H bombs and was present when Master Navy Diver Carl Bradshear successfully recovered the bombs.
Brenny, a Master Driller, owned and operated Diamond Drilling Corporation until his retirement in 2013. Quickly realizing that retirement was not for him, Brenny went back to work part-time at E2CR Drilling until 2016. In his free time, Brenny enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather.
In addition to his loving wife Darryl Lynn Taylor, Brenny is survived by his children: Brenda Ali and her husband Shaikh of Ferndale, MD; and Tricia Taylor of Glen Burnie, MD; grandchildren: Priya and Aryan Bugnait, Harold B. Smith, Danielle and Michael Sheppard, Bilal and Kassie Iqbal, Chelsea Boyd, Kalyn Ali, Zachary Boyd, Khalisa Ali, Isaac Ali and Maryam Ali and 6 great-grandchildren; and brothers Edwin Taylor of Weston, WV and George W. Johns of Lake City, SC., and many nieces and nephews.Brenny is predeceased by his parents and sisters Edna Mae Smith, Brenda Joyce Taylor, and brother Clarence Hugh Taylor.
Visitation will be held at the locally-owned Loudon Park Funeral Home, Inc., 3620 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD (21229) on Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1 PM. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.
